She's covered sports for some of the most prominent media in the world. It was a long time writing about sports for The Washington Post, including tennis, football and basketball. Nichols spent nine years at ESPN which was where she earned 2 Emmy Awards. Also, she was the correspondent of Monday Night Football on the network. Next was CNN, and then Turner Sports. The first program she developed and hosted was named self-titled Unguarded featuring Rachel Nichols, and aired weekly on CNN as well as CNN International. Over 1 billion viewers were watching it around the world. Nichols was employed by TNT as a broadcaster, reporting on NBA games including playoffs, regular season as well as All Star shows. Apart from the reporting on TBS, she also covered golf and baseball broadcasts as well as Final Four on CBS. It was the only occasion in the award's 42 year record that a woman is nominated amongst the more than 200 nominees.
